To PortugalThe closest airport is Porto (OPO).If you’d like to spend a few days before or after the wedding exploring, Porto is ideal, Braga is a charming but smaller city.We recommend arriving in Braga on June 29 or 30 if you wish to attend the pre-party on June 30. From Porto to BragaYou can take the train from Campanhã Station in Porto to Braga (the journey takes between 35 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the type of train). The cost is approximately 15–20 euros per trip. We decided to go with a Romantic Formal wear vibe with soft, muted colors to reflect the elegance of the venue and create a beautifully unified look in the photos. It’s a peaceful, beautiful place to visit right in the heart of Braga. The street right in front is the perfect spot to meet up, day or night, for a cheap drink. It’s always lively and usually packed, with such a fun, easygoing atmosphere. La Sé de Braga est la plus ancienne cathédrale du Portugal et l’un des monuments les plus emblématiques de la ville. Avec son mélange de style roman, gothique et baroque, elle reflète plus de mille ans d’histoire. C’est un lieu paisible et magnifique à découvrir en plein cœur de Braga. You can also visit the cities nearby such as Guimaraes (known as the birthplace of Portugal with a preserved medieval town and castles. You can also visit the Dukes’ Palace. Portugal is also famous for its Pastéis de Nata and the Port Wine :) Vous pouvez aussi visiter les villes voisines comme Guimarães, connue comme le berceau du Portugal avec son centre médiéval parfaitement préservé, son château et le Palais des Ducs. Our love story It all began at Concordia University in Montreal, in the most romantic of places: a statistics class. Ali noticed Marie from across the room but, true to form, never said a word (shy? maybe. calculating the odds? definitely). After the final exam, fate decided to play a small trick. While flying to Dubai via Paris for Christmas break, Ali called his mom from the airport and said, “Remember the girl I told you about from class? I think she’s on my flight.” At the same boarding gate, he was convinced he spotted Marie again. No words were exchanged, just a quiet, fleeting moment that stayed with him longer than he expected. Then came January. A new semester, a new class, Marketing, and there she was again. This time, Marie was chatting with a friend of Ali’s. The friend greeted Ali, complimented his jacket, and unknowingly opened the door to their very first conversation. Seizing the moment, Ali said,“Oh, I think you were on my flight to Paris not long ago.”Marie looked at him, puzzled.“When?”“This Christmas break,” he replied confidently.Marie laughed.“I stayed home for the holidays.” It was their very first conversation, and somehow, it marked the beginning of something special. Not long after, they found themselves in the same group project. Between late-night study sessions, shared laughter, and Facebook messages about assignments (and one forgotten laptop charger Ali gallantly returned, neatly rolled and all) a genuine friendship quietly took shape. Ali even tried to help Marie cheat off his exam during a midterm as they sat side by side (he still insists it was an act of love, since she had worked the night before and barely studied). True to herself, she refused and scored a 92%. He got a 68%. Naturally. Marie’s packed schedule played its part, too. A full-time student juggling two jobs to gain as much experience as possible before graduating, her days were anything but quiet. Ali, on the other hand, found every excuse to be there, driving her to work, picking her up, waiting for her calls to say she was done. Those simple moments, tucked into Marie’s busy days, quickly became precious, a calm, caring bubble in the middle of constant motion. Neither of them was looking for a relationship. Yet, between the long conversations in the car outside Marie’s house, so long that the police once stopped by to make sure everything was okay, something deeper began to grow. Eventually, Marie made the first move. And the rest, as they say, is history. Since then, they’ve been inseparable, through the highs, the lows, the gluten and the gluten-free. From the first time Ali met Marie’s family, where he was lovingly teased for his one-of-a-kind water-skiing skills and for being called “Tim” by her uncle, to building a new life together halfway across the world in Dubai, every chapter of their story has been filled with laughter, love, growth and a lot of new experiences. Nine years later (ten by the wedding!), they’ve built a love that is as strong as it is playful, as supportive as it is spontaneous. Together, they’ve pushed each other to grow, laugh louder, and dream bigger. Today, surrounded by those who have been part of their story from the very beginning, along with new souls and meaningful connections gathered along the way, Marie and Ali are so excited to celebrate ten years of love and the beautiful journey ahead, with a night full of culture, music, laughter, love, and of course, a little dancing. // Notre Histoire d’amour Tout a commencé à l’Université Concordia, à Montréal, dans le plus romantique des décors : un cours de statistiques. Un nouveau semestre, un nouveau cours, marketing, et elle était encore là. Cette fois, Marie discutait avec un ami d’Ali. L’ami salua Ali, complimenta sa veste et, sans le savoir, ouvrit la porte à leur toute première conversation. Saisissant l’occasion, Ali lança :« Oh, je crois que tu étais dans mon vol pour Paris. »Marie le regarda, intriguée.« Quand ? »« Pendant les vacances d’hiver », répondit-il avec assurance.Marie éclata de rire.« Je suis restée ici pour les fêtes! » C’était leur toute première conversation et, contre toute attente, elle marqua le début de quelque chose de spécial. Entre les soirées d’étude tardives, les fous rires et les messages Facebook à propos des travaux (sans oublier ce chargeur d’ordinateur oublié qu’Ali lui rapporta galamment, soigneusement enroulé), une véritable amitié prit doucement forme. Ali tenta même d’aider Marie à tricher sur sa copie pendant un examen de mi-session alors qu’ils étaient assis côte à côte (il soutient encore que c’était un geste d’amour, puisqu’elle avait travaillé la veille et avait à peine étudié). Fidèle à elle-même, elle refusa et obtint 92 %. Lui eut 68 %. Évidemment. Le quotidien bien rempli de Marie y joua aussi un rôle important. Étudiante à temps plein, elle cumulait deux emplois afin d’acquérir le plus d’expérience possible avant de graduer. Ali, lui, trouvait toutes les excuses pour être présent : la déposer au travail, venir la chercher, attendre ses appels lui annonçant qu’elle avait terminé. Ces moments simples, glissés dans l’horaire chargé de Marie, devinrent rapidement précieux, comme une bulle de calme et de sécurité au cœur du chaos. Aucun des deux ne cherchait une relation. Pourtant, entre les longues discussions dans la voiture devant la maison de Marie, si longues que la police est même venue vérifier que tout allait bien, quelque chose de plus profond s’est installé. Finalement, c’est Marie qui fit le premier pas. Et le reste, comme on dit, appartient à l’histoire. Depuis, ils sont inséparables, à travers les hauts, les bas, le gluten et le sans gluten. De la première rencontre d’Ali avec la famille de Marie, où il fut affectueusement taquiné pour ses talents uniques en ski nautique et pour avoir été surnommé « Tim » par son oncle, jusqu’à la construction d’une nouvelle vie ensemble à l’autre bout du monde, à Dubaï, chaque chapitre de leur histoire a été rempli de rires, d’amour, de croissance et de nombreuses nouvelles expériences. Neuf ans plus tard (dix au moment du mariage !), ils ont bâti un amour à la fois solide et joueur, aussi soutenant que spontané. Ensemble, ils se sont encouragés à grandir, à rire plus fort et à rêver toujours plus grand. Aujourd’hui, entourés des personnes qui ont été présentes depuis le tout début, mais aussi de nouvelles âmes et de précieuses connexions croisées en chemin, Marie et Ali ont tellement hâte de célébrer dix ans d’amour et la magnifique aventure qui les attend, lors d’une soirée remplie de culture, de musique, de rires, d’amour et, bien sûr, d’un peu de danse.
